The first Tuesday in November will culminate in one of the most polarizing elections in U.S. history while simultaneously marking the beginning of National Adoption Month, which is annually designated in November.
While foster care and adoption are vital solutions, we also must help prevent children from entering the system in the first place. This National Foster Care Month, our country’s at-risk children need believers to prioritize the type of support that keeps families together from the start.
While most mothers are celebrating a present blessing on Mother’s Day, these celebrations can be bittersweet for women who have placed their children for adoption.
This Easter, may we, as the adopted children of God, let the sacrificial nature of Christ thrust us into denying ourselves, taking up our Cross, and following Jesus into the redeeming work of manifesting the Gospel to the least of these.
Tragically, between 60%-90% of women in the United States who learn they are pregnant with a baby with Down syndrome choose abortion as the solution to their “problem.”
We must pray, most importantly, for the endurance and faith we will need to make sure the women and children affected by this decision will have the support they need. If we want to end abortion, the Supreme Court battle’s conclusion is just the beginning.
