Transforming lives post-abortion: A fresh take on healing
After-abortion healing is a human issue that’s often hidden behind politics and religion.
After-abortion healing is a human issue that’s often hidden behind politics and religion.
At my organization, Support After Abortion, we see the negative link between abortion opposition and women’s mental health every day. Some women tell us they feel like they aren’t welcome at church, or they can’t tell family members what happened to them out of fear of judgment and being disowned.
Abortion loss can be painful, and that pain cannot be summarized in a political ad or on a protest sign. Acknowledging the grief can be difficult, but with the right personal and social support, it can be the path to recovery and fulfillment.
As America navigates the new legislative, cultural, and political realities of abortion, we have a choice. We can continue creating chasms that prevent solutions, or we can build bridges to create safe, compassionate places in our homes and communities to achieve real human healing.
It’s time to give women — and men — the safe place they need for healing.
