There are myriad parallels to be drawn between the pro-life movement and the abolitionist movement in America. Both have undertaken the fight against injustices of unspeakable magnitude. Both have asserted the inviolable dignity of humans made in God’s image. Both have been powerful forces for unity around the truth while also facing immense opposition.
Christians should give thanks and praise to God for such a decision if it is handed down. It is He who works justice for the oppressed. It is He who rescues from death. It is He whose scepter holds sway over all the rulers of the Earth and whose court will never issue a decision that needs to be overturned.
Christians must be defenders of democracy. Christians must trust that their voice will have an impact in a free society, rather than waiting for the right strongman to revere.
