It would seem, then, that for Hollywood, the mantra is, “In the USA, we must say gay, no matter who we alienate and offend. But when it comes to China, where our financial losses will be much steeper, we mustn’t say gay at all, especially in a children’s movie, lest we offend.”
Jesus took your place on the cross — a place we all deserved — so that you could have a place with Him forever. Call on Him today to save you from your sins, and let that new life begin right now.
But that was only the beginning. Today, things have shifted to the point that many of those who fought shame and stigma in the past are seeking to shame and stigmatize those who oppose their ideology. Those who came out of the closet want to put us in the closet.
The essence of idolatry is that we create a god in our image, confusing His nature with ours and thereby conforming Him to our standards. This, in turn, creates a vicious cycle in which we continue to degenerate spiritually and morally as we become like the lifeless idols we create.
For those of us who choose convenience over courage and comfort over conviction, not only does the Bible rebuke us, from beginning to end. And not only do the great leaders of the centuries rebuke us, especially those gave their lives for a cause. But one of the vilest human beings who ever lived rebukes us. That is sobering indeed.
Orban was expected to have an especially tough challenge this time because all 6 opposition parties united against him. Instead, he won by his largest margin to date, with his party now looking to take 135 seats and the 6-party opposition alliance taking only 56 seats.
We are called to be disciples, not customers, not consumers, not casual seekers of carnal convenience. Instead, with joy, we deny ourselves and take up our cross daily (see Luke 9:23). And by God’s grace, we walk worthy of our Lord.
How is this fair to these young women, let alone morally defensible? And how can this possibly be compared to the groundbreaking actions of Jackie Robinson?
If you are a pastor or ministry leader and you believe that, according to the Bible, you have the liberty to drink alcohol (without drunkenness), please don’t turn that liberty into a public boast, as in, “Look at how free I am!”
