Set during the height of the 1960s civil rights movement, “Paul’s Promise” (Damascus Road Productions, Uptone Pictures and SaltShaker Media) is about a formerly racist firefighter-turned-pastor named Paul Holderfield Sr. The film chronicles Holderfield’s impoverished upbringing, nights he went to bed hungry and listened to his mother pray for food for her children.

Fast forward to Holderfield as a firefighter, one moment involving his best friend from childhood, a black man, would change his life forever. His actions haunted him so much that Holderfield started Friendly Chapel and F.L.A.M.E. (Feeding and Loving All Men Equally) to help give back to anyone in need.

“We came into the neighborhood when they did not want us and stayed until they could not do without us,” Holderfield said of his program.

In a statement shared with The Christian Post, actor O’Quinn said, “It is truly a highlight of my career to bring this story to the big screen. One man’s decision to serve God and stand up to injustice continues to make a huge impact on his community to this day.”

Executive Producer Nick Logan added, “‘Paul’s Promise’ shares the hope and healing of Holderfield’s life during a troubled time in our Nation’s history. His life’s work continues to this day through his family and his son, Paul Holderfield Jr.”

The Home Entertainment release of the film will be available on Dec. 6.
