Imports of luxury goods have increased under Kim

It's no secret that the Kim family likes to live a lavish lifestyle while many North Koreans they rule over go hungry and malnourished. But according to The Telegraph, North Korea's imports of luxury goods have about doubled under Kim while nearly half the nation is undernourished.

The Telegraph cites a report submitted to the South Korean Parliament in 2013 that stated that North Korea's import of luxury goods amounted to $645.8 million in 2012. According to the outlet, the amount spent on luxury goods during his father's regime was about $300 million per year.

According to the report, imported bottled of high-end alcohol cost the regime up to $30 million in 2012, while over $8.2 million was spent on luxury watches.

A United Nations report issued earlier this year found that 41 percent of the total North Korean population is undernourished because of the lack of food and basic services.
