5 highlights from Biden's interview with George Stephanopoulos: 'The Lord's not coming down'
'Lied 28 times'
Biden suggested he was caught off-guard by the fact that Trump "lied 28 times" throughout the debate, though Stephanopoulos noted that he was struggling out of the gate.
"I prepared what I usually would do, sitting down as I did, come back with foreign leaders or National Security Council for explicit detail. And I realized — about partway through that, you know, all — I get quoted the New York Times had me down, at 10 points before the debate, nine now, or whatever the hell it is," Biden said.
"The fact of the matter is, what I looked at is that he also lied 28 times. I couldn't — I mean, the way the debate ran, not — my fault, no one else's fault, no one else's fault," he added.
"But it seemed like you were having trouble from the first question in, even before he spoke," Stephanopoulos replied, to which Biden responded, "Well, I just had a bad night. You've had some bad interviews once in a while. I can't remember any, but I'm sure you did."
Biden later called Trump "a congenital liar" and said he "is a guy who wants to undo every single thing I've done, every single thing."
According to the left-leaning fact-checking website PolitiFact, Trump made 15 false statements and Biden made three. The New York Times reported that Trump made 20 false statements, while an additional 21 were misleading.
The Associated Press issued corrections for 11 of Trump's statements and four from Biden.
