Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker talks abortion, fatherhood and a trans activist's funeral
Condemns abortion as a 'great atrocity'
Butker also touched upon what the interviewer described as "a subtle pro-life fashion statement" he made during a visit to the White House following the Chiefs' victory in Super Bowl LVII last year.
He outlined his mindset at the time of the visit.
"There are some laws being pushed through that I don't think value all human life. One of those laws is allowing abortion to be legal in this country," he said.
He decided to wear "a tie that in Latin I thought brought attention to the unborn" that read the Latin equivalent of "protect the most vulnerable."
"The unborn are, to me, the greatest victims in our society. They don't have a voice, they don't necessarily look like humans, they're not very big, they can't fight for themselves, there's not a lot of people fighting for them, and I just think it's a great atrocity that's occurring in this country with massacring the unborn."
"I felt like there's no better place to send this message … to the masses and to represent the unborn at a place like the White House where unfortunately, their voice is not heard," he stated.
When asked if he planned to make a similar statement at the Chiefs' expected visit to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue later this year, Butker indicated that no plans were in the works, but he did not rule out the possibility.
