5 highlights from Tucker Carlson's interview with Vladimir Putin

Carlson's interview with Putin spanned more than 2 hours

Jailed WSJ journalist

Carlson pressed Putin regarding Evan Gershkovich, a 32-year-old Wall Street Journal reporter who was arrested in March 2023 for alleged espionage, the first time an American journalist has been arrested on spying charges since the Cold War.

When asked if Russia would be open to releasing Gershkovich, who Carlson suggested is not a spy, Putin maintained the reporter "was caught red-handed when he was secretly getting classified information."

In a statement, the Journal asserted that Gershkovich "is a journalist, and journalism is not a crime," and that "any portrayal to the contrary is total fiction," according to The Associated Press.

Russia is "ready to solve it but there are certain conditions that are being discussed between special services," Putin said of Gershkovich's situation. "I believe an agreement can be reached."
