Trump has been indicted in four different states and on 91 separate counts, prompting the moderators to ask the candidates if they will support Trump if he becomes the nominee and is found guilty.

Moderator Brett Baier asked the candidates if they would still support Trump for president if he received the nomination, but had also been convicted in a court of law.

Christie said that “someone’s got to stop normalizing this conduct,” arguing that Trump’s behavior “is beneath the office of president of the United States.”

In response to being jeered by some for his anti-Trump sentiments, Christie responded, "the great thing about this country” is that “booing is allowed, but it doesn’t change the truth.”

Ramaswamy said he would support Trump, calling him the best U.S. president thus far in the 21st century, and denounced Christie’s opposition to the former president.

Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson said he would not support Trump, believing he was “morally disqualified from being president again as a result of what happened on Jan. 6.”

Multiple candidates said that they agreed that Pence did the right thing by certifying the 2020 presidential election results, which showed that Democrat Joe Biden had won, with Scott being cheered when he said he agreed with it.

DeSantis, Ramaswamy and Scott believed it was important to tackle the alleged “weaponization” of the justice system against conservatives and pro-life activists.
