700 Pound Man Receives Help From Dr. Phil

Robert Gibbs, a man who weighs over 700 pounds, has become an Internet sensation by recording an emotional plea for help. His cries have officially reached the ears of Dr. Phil, one of America's most trusted doctors.

According to The Daily Mail, Gibbs made the YouTube video only five days ago; it has since received over 900,000 views and much media attention. Only 24 hours after it was published, CBS News was at Gibbs' home to speak with him about his hopes.

"I'm getting the exposure I needed," he explained. "I better start getting ready for the tornado that's about to become my life. I guess it's a good birthday for me," he told CBS.

It was a very different man than the one seen in the YouTube video begging and pleading for help. "I'm making this video because I don't know what else to do," Gibbs says into the camera. "I've tried losing weight on my own, tried doing everything possible: been on diet, been hospitalized, always done what needed to be done, but then I gained the weight back."

"I'm just trying to get some help from somebody: a nutritionist, a personal trainer, Dr. Phil, the "Biggest Loser," anything or anybody who knows."

The Daily Mail confirmed that Gibbs' pleas have not gone unanswered. The Dr. Phil Show has, in fact, contacted Gibbs in order to offer help.

"We were contacted by the local television affiliate earlier this afternoon and immediately reached out to Robert in order to answer his call for help," said Stacey Luchs, spokeswoman for the Dr. Phil show.

One of the main reasons Gibbs made the video was his fear of not being able to see his niece and nephew grow up. "I'm really scared that I'm not going to be able to watch my niece or nephew grow up, and I'm not going to be able to have a family of my own. I'm asking for somebody's help. That's all I can really say—it's from the heart."
