$99 HP TouchPad Sale: More Expected to Be Announced Soon

Rumors have been churning around about when Hewlett Packard plans on releasing its next, and last, batch of $99 TouchPads.

It appears as though anxious consumers that were unable to snag a TouchPad during the summer fire sale that caused a frenzy, may in fact have the opportunity to get a hold of the HP tablet by the end of this month.

HP announced on its The Next Bench Blog that it would be releasing more tablets to “satisfy unfulfilled demand,” however the company has yet to officially announce when the devices will make it onto the market.

The company did say that the TouchPads would be manufactured during its fourth fiscal quarter, which ends on Oct. 31, causing many to speculate that the TouchPads would be available by the end of this month.

It is believed that HP will be making 200,000 new TouchPads available.

Arguably, 200,000 new tablets will unlikely be enough to satisfy demand for the TouchPad that created waves last summer with its $99 fire sale that sparked an extraordinary reaction by people excited to get a great deal on a typically expensive high-end gadget.

Furthermore, not all the news coming out of HP has a silver lining, as the price for new round of tablets will be subject to retailer discretion.

HP wrote, “Each retailer will manage their own policy regarding pricing and price matching.”

The company asked customers to “Please contact the local retailer of your choice to see what their current position is.”

However, as consumers continue to wait for HP to announce their specific plans, they should take some comfort in knowing the final run of the TouchPad appears to be on the brink of happening.
