'Agent Carter' Season 2 News, Update: 'State Of The Union' Event Pushes Back Agent Peggy's Outing Date

ABC's hit superhero drama TV series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is now ready to take off for its winter break for Season 3. Replacing the Marvel TV series' on its Tuesday evening timeslot is "Agent Carter" which is now set to open its second season.

However, those who are already marking their calendars for Agent Peggy's (Hayley Atwell) return to the small screen will have to wait a bit longer as a new update indicates that Season 2 has been pushed back from its original outing date. It had been previously announced that the show will be hitting the airwaves on January 5.

Now, a report from Enstarz.com cited the announcement from the network, saying that the premiere will be postponed until January 19. ABC opted to delay the show by a couple of weeks following the recent announcement saying that U.S. President Barack Obama will be delivering his State of The Union Address on January 12.

The date adjustment could also push back "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s" 2016 return date which is originally slated to happen on March 8. Fans should expect a two-week delay before Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his S.H.I.E.L.D. team spring back into action.

On a brighter note, "Agent Carter" Season 2 will premiere with a 2-hour TV special that will see Peggy ditching the busy life of New York for the "glitz and glamour" of the post-war Los Angeles, California. The new setting is said to find Peggy with a handful of interesting love interests.

On the casting side of things, the new chapter will feature the acts of Wynn Everett (as Madame Masque), Lotte Verbeek (as Ana Jarvis), Currie Graham (as Calvin Chadwick), Reggie Austin (as Jason Wilkes), Kurtwood Smith (as Vernon Masters), and Ken Marino (as Joseph Manfredi).

Joining the newcomers are the Season 1 cast including Atwell, James D'Arcy as Jarvis, Enver Gjokaj as Daniel Sousa, and Chad Michael Murray as Jack Thompson.

Stay tuned for more updates.
