'Agents of Shield' Spoilers: 'So Much More to Explore'

New NBC show "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is doing quite well in the ratings, and fans are eager to find out what will happen next. For some spoilers of what is in store for the rest of the inaugural season from actress Elizabeth Henstridge, read on.

Henstridge plays Jemma Simmons on the show, one of the youngest members of S.H.I.E.L.D. whose storyline has been close with Fitz's thus far. Henstridge recently sat down for an interview with TV Guide where she discussed whether or not Fitz and Jemma will be more independent on future episodes.

"That's interesting because then you see that they've never been without each other. When you see them without each other, that brings a whole new dynamic just to them as characters in discovering what it's like to have to be independent because this whole S.H.I.E.L.D. team has come together and everybody is on their own apart from Fitz-Simmons. We will get to see that and it's quite funny," the actress said.

Henstridge also discussed how the lack of Jemma's field training will come into play in future episodes.

"You have to train for years and be very disciplined at being able to do the field work. Their job is in the lab. They're going to be busy all day doing that. So really, they could learn some skills, but as for how the team is operating right now, I don't see them being able to do crazy kung-fu moves. But you never know! They're deciding whether they get a taste for that. It's not something that's in their wheelhouse yet. They're not going to suddenly be these amazing fighters because that's not who they are and that's not what their passion is. They've very busy in the lab fixing other problems," she said.

Jemma has a family she had to leave in order to be a part of S.H.I.E.L.D but viewers are yet to learn much about that family., According to Henstridge, that will change later in the season.

"You definitely learn as the episodes go on. There's so much to explore in each other of the characters and their relationships and story arcs and each week's mission, so we're just very excited that there's so much material to dive into. It's nice to get asked questions like that because I feel like it means the characters are well-rounded enough for people to care where they come from and question how they got here and why aren't they living near their families, and stuff like that," the actress said.
