Airport Security Tightening to Tackle Terrorist 'Body Bomb' Plots
The TSA is set to increase its security procedures following recent intelligence information suggesting terrorists are plotting to surgically implant explosives in their bodies; so called “body bombs.”
”Terrorist intent on striking commercial aircraft have shown renewed interest in surgically implanting explosives in humans to circumvent airport security”, a U.S. security official told CNN.
White House spokesman Jay Carney said, “This concept is not at all surprising and the intelligence did not relate to an imminent or specific threat.”

Airline traveler’s can expect to see behavior-detection officers, and experience longer interviewing sessions as a result of the increased security measures.
In addition, screening will also include more intense pat down searches.
“Officials will also start body swabbing the clothing and skin of passengers in an effort to detect traces of explosives. These measures are designed to be unpredictable, so passengers should not expect to see the same activity at every international airport,” said TSA spokesman, Nicholas Kimball.
