Alec Baldwin Cancels Plans To Run For NYC Mayor

Alec Baldwin has axed his plans to run for New York City mayor, saying that he has ultimately been turned off by the other candidates who he claims are far too eager to hold office.

Baldwin, star of NBC sitcom "30 Rock.” says that he is better off sticking to what he knows and took a dig at the other mayoral hopefuls.

The 53-year-old took to his WNYC podcast to say that the other candidates are, "like a guy on a date that you can tell he just can't wait to get his hand up your blouse before even the lights go out in the theater."

"I've lost my appetite," he added.

Baldwin had recently announced that he was indeed interested in running for mayor, and received words of encouragement from fans who also created a Facebook page promoting the idea.

"Give this up for what?...I give up money and fame and position and success; I give up this wonderful life I have now in exchange for the chance to 'really change things?'... Yeah, I'm not quite sure you can anymore," Baldwin explained.

The actor recently grabbed international headlines after being hoisted off of an American Airlines flight shortly before its take off.

According to sources Baldwin was asked to turn off his cell phone by the flight crew, who he argued were impolite and maliciously targeting him.

After Baldwin allegedly refused to turn off his cell phone, he was escorted off the plane.

Baldwin argued that he was playing a popular iPhone game called Words With Friends, taking twitter to vent his outrage.

"Flight attendant of American reamed me out 4 playing WORDS W FRIENDS while we sat at the gate, not moving," Baldwin tweeted adding the hash tag #NoWonderAmericaAirIsBankrupt.

He also took a swipe at the airline staff tweeting, "'#theresalwaysunited Last flight w American. Where retired Catholic school gym teachers from the 1950's find jobs as flight attendants."

Baldwin is happy to continue acting and has no plans to enter politics in the near future.

He explained that he had been put off by the candidates because, "they're all just so horny for it."
