Alec Baldwin, Mayor of NYC? Brother Hints of Possible Run
Alec Baldwin has talked before of his political ambitions and the possibility of running for the mayoral office of New York City, but it was his brother, Billy, who hinted at a possible run in an upcoming election.
"I think on one level it's very real," Billy Baldwin told Piers Morgan this week. "I think he's very committed and extremely bright and knowledgeable, and I think he could do it and he could run. On the other hand, I'm not quite sure if he's cut from the proper cloth because it requires a lot of tolerance and a lot of patience."
It certainly would require a great deal of patience, something that Alec may be lacking. In the past two weeks, Baldwin has been in two arguments with photographers, one of which turned violent. He is known for being a bit of a hothead: he was kicked off an airplane while playing Words With Friends and once left a nasty voicemail for his daughter to hear.

After Piers Morgan accused Alec of being "temperamental," Billy defended his brother by comparing Alec to John McCain and Rudy Giuliani, whom he notes "are quite the same and are very successful and highly effective politicians."
Baldwin could be gearing up for a political run, or at least seriously considering the idea. In addition to comments from Billy, he has shut down his Twitter account and spoken about his "political opponents" who he believes are out to skew his public image.
"All of a sudden, within 30 minutes, the misrepresentation of the story is out there by your political opponents," he said of the aftermath of the first confrontation with a paparazzo. "Fox Nation says, 'Baldwin punches photographer.' Not true. And that's the thing that I find is the most difficult," he told Charlie Rose.
In an interview with The New York Times last year, Baldwin admitted that he would "probably sit out in 2013 but run in a later election."
