Alicia Keys Reveals Biblical Name for Newborn Son, Genesis
Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz went with a biblical name for their newborn son, who was delivered early Saturday.
The hip-hop power couple welcomed the birth of baby Genesis Ali Dean, who weighed in at 6 pounds 5 ounces, and Keys took to Instagram to share details alongside a photo of his tiny footprints. While Beatz, born Kasseem Dean, identifies as a Muslim, the name Gensis is believed to be taken from the Bible's book of Genesis, which explores creation as it relates to Christianity.
"The joy of joy is joy!! It's a boy!! we are so grateful!! blessings!!" Keys captioned alongside the photo.

Baby Gensis comes four years after the birth of the couple's first son, Egypt Daoud. Dean is also the father of Nicole, Prince Nasir and Kasseem from previous relationships.
Keys, 33, spent much of her latest pregnancy writing new music and in September made headlines when she bared her baby bump for charity while also promoting her song "We Are Here."
The Grammy Award-winning singer shared the nude photo with her 2 million followers on Instagram which understandably set tongues wagging. In it, she could be seen baring her burgeoning baby bump which was painted with a peace sign.
"It's you and me on a mission to create a kinder and more peaceful world," Keys wrote in the caption. "The #WeAreHere Movement begins today."
Earlier this month she released her "We Gotta Pray" song. That song, along with "We Are Here," were inspired by the ongoing civil unrest around the U.S. in the wake of cases like those of Michael Brown and Eric Garner.
"We absolutely feel disregarded as human beings," Keys told The New York Times. "The most important thing is that we look at each other and see these magnificent beings that can create the changes and movements we dream of."
While the singer idenitifies as being spiritual, she does not identify with one particular religion.
"I would call it spirituality because I think religion gets very sticky ... I pray a lot. So prayer and giving thanks and being connected to something greater keeps me very humble," she once said.
Keys' last album "Girl on Fire" was released in 2012 and it peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
She wed Dean in July 2010.
