Amanda Knox Latest News: Ex Breaks Down on TV, Gives Up on Relationship

More than one month after being released from prison along with his ex-girlfriend, Raffaele Sollecito broke his silence on Italian television and shared that his relationship with Amanda Knox is over.

Sollecito sat down for an exclusive interview and answered questions for over an hour. During the interview, he maintained his complete innocence in the murder of Meredith Kercher, and described his four-year imprisonment as “injustice.”

Although an Italian court acquitted Sollecito and Knox, the family of murdered British student Meredith Kercher wants to resume the trial, as they do not believe the truth has fully been discovered. Rudy Guede, an Ivory Coast drug dealer was convicted of the crime, but received a reduced sentence of 16 years, and questions still surround the case.

The 27-year-old Italian said he prays for the Kercher family every day, but cannot understand why they did not investigate the matter further and instead allowed him and Knox to be falsely imprisoned. Sollecito also claimed he attempted to contact the Kercher family on numerous occasions during his time in prison, but he received no communication back.

Sollecito also mentioned his relationship with Knox and teared up when forced to admit: “It’s all over between us. I still have a great affection towards her but nothing else.”

Sollecito explained their love was like "a seed that was not allowed to grow” and it was “brutally stamped on.”

He also addressed pictures that were recently taken of Knox on Halloween, the eve of the four-year anniversary of Kercher’s death, where she was accused both by the media and Kercher’s father of being insensitive for dressing up as a cat burglar and going to a party.

The Italian defended her and said she was free to do as she wanted, and that the attention should not be focused on her every move. He insisted they should be allowed to move on from their ordeal and rebuild their lives, even if they would both be separate from now.
