Amanda Knox's Dreams of Rekindling Romance With Raffaele Sollecito Shattered?

It appears as though all hope is lost for Amanda Knox in terms of rekindling her romance with former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito.

The new development comes from The National Enquirer, which suggests that Sollectio’s father wants his son, and Knox's former love, to begin a new life with a woman from his native Italy.

The report suggests that Sollecito’s father, a rich and prominent urologist, worries about his son rekindling a romance with Knox and reportedly told a friend that for his son there would “only be pain in that direction.”

The young Sollecito was recently opened up to the Italian Weekly Oggi about his relationship with Knox.

He was quoted as saying, “We need each other – we speak to each other on the phone and write to each other every day.”

Sollecito also added that he plans on taking up Knox’s offer to visit her native Seattle saying, “I really want to see her again, to speak with her and look into her eyes.”

Although Knox may not ever have an opportunity to rekindle her romance with her former flame who endured the same four-year ordeal in jail as Knox, the 24-year-old student may have something else to look forward to.

It is expected that the student, acquitted of murder, will make millions from her first public interview, which many are anticipating will be rewarded to either Diane Sawyer of ABC or Matt Lauer of NBC.

The Knox saga captured national headlines after Knox’s British roommate Meredith Kercher was killed in 2007 in the Perugia apartment that she shared with Knox.

Knox, Sollecito, and another man, Rudy Guede, were all convicted of the murder of Meredith Kercher in 2009, but Knox and Sollecito were later acquitted of the murder in a highly public appeal trial that ended Sept. 2011.
