'American Crime Story' Season 2 News: Second Season To Tell The Story Of Hurricane Katrina, Producers Reveal
Though its first season has yet to air, the producers of "American Crime Story" have already revealed what they're working on for the true crime series' second season. According to Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson, and Brad Simpson, who co-executive produce the much-anticipated show, Season 2 will feature the events before, during, and after Hurricane Katrina.
In this week's cover story of The Hollywood Reporter, Murphy says, "I want this show to be a socially conscious, socially aware examination of different types of crime around the world." "And in my opinion, Katrina was a f—ing crime — a crime against a lot of people who didn't have a strong voice and we're going to treat it as a crime," he said, adding, "That's what this show is all about."
Murphy revealed that the story will follow a group of six to eight people as they struggle to survive during and in the aftermath of the hurricane. Though a second season hasn't even been confirmed by FX, the producers have already given a lot of thought into what constitutes an "American crime" and have opted to broaden their definition, from notorious crimes and trials to "ones where there are before and after moments, and they change the way we look at the subject at hand," as Jacobson explained.

The first season of "American Crime Story," which is being promoted as a companion piece to the anthology horror TV series "American Horror Story," is subtitled "The People v O.J. Simpson" and will follow the well-publicized murder trial and tell the stories of the people involved with the case and with Simpson himself, from the lawyers working on the case to the Kardashians.
It stars Cuba Gooding, Jr. as O.J. Simpson, Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark, John Travolta as Robert Shapiro, Courtney B. Vance as Johnnie Cochran, Connie Britton as Faye Resnick, David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian, and Selma Blair as Kris Jenner.
Apart from Murphy, Jacobson, and Simpson, "American Crime Story" is executive produced by creators Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, Brad Falchuk and Dante Di Loreto.
The series premiere of "American Crime Story: The People v O.J. Simpson" airs on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 10 p.m. on FX.
