Android 4.3, JellyBean Galaxy Note 2 Update Release Date Nears as Test Version Leaks

The Android 4.3, JellyBean Galaxy Note 2 update release date should be close as a test version of the software leaked onto the internet yesterday.

A test version was already made available for the Galaxy S4 a day prior, so seeing it for the phablet was not a big surprise.

The release date for the official software was recently leaked by Samsung Canada and French mobile operator SFR. The Galaxy Note 2 will update to Android 4.3, JellyBean during November, according to these reports. The company will roll it out to the Galaxy S4 sometime this month and will follow with the phablet and last year's flagship, the Galaxy S3.

The next update to be released for those devices will be Android 4.4, KitKat. However, it isn't as likely to make an appearance on the older Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3, as the S4 will be the priority.

The new software is expected to debut sometime before the end of this year on the new Nexus 5 smartphone.

The Android updates will refresh many of these devices making them more efficient to compete against Apple's new line of devices and its iOS 7 software.

The Galaxy Note 3 is actually the first of these devices to run Android 4.3 as it comes running it straight out of the box. The Nexus 5 will be the first device to run Android 4.4, KitKat in that fashion. Handsets such as the Galaxy S2 and original Galaxy Note will most likely stop upgrading at the older versions of JellyBean.

Google branded devices such as the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 have already received Android 4.3.
