Ann Curry Live on the Air Ban? NBC Limiting Curry Exposure as CNN Court Host

Ann Curry is not allowed live on the air on NBC, according to new reports, as she continues to try and get out of her contract at the network.

According to a report in the New York Post, Curry has been banned from appearing live on NBC, and is only allowed to do pre-recorded interviews.

Curry was famously dropped from the Today show last year, and is now a correspondent for NBC News.

A source has told the New York Post: "There's growing friction because she's been pushing for live interviews, but NBC will only air her taped interviews, presumably so they can edit them."

Curry has previously been reported to have asked NBC to get out of her contract so she could join CNN. However, NBC reportedly will only allow her to leave and break her contract if she does not appear on TV for the next six months.

CNN has not been too subtle about courting Curry, and it is said that her former boss Jeff Zucker, who has taken over at the cable channel, wants to replace Anderson Cooper's 8 p.m. show with Curry. He believes that she will be a fan favorite and is desperate to move her from NBC.

"Ann's bosses weren't willing to let her out of her contract so she could accept a job at CNN," a source told Radar Online. "NBC has made it clear that if they let Ann out of her contract, they want to keep her off the air of a competing network for at least six months."

However, the situation has left Curry frustrated and she is being given limited air time on the NBC network and is desperate to leave.

"This is unacceptable to Ann. She has been on the air only in a very limited capacity, since being dumped from the TODAY show," the source added.

"There has been a break in the on-going stand-off between NBC and Ann," the source added. "Ann's bosses weren't willing to let her out of her contract so she could accept a job at CNN. However, they now recognize it's probably for the best, and Matt Lauer chimed in and said it would be a good idea as well."
