Apple Pay Cash Now Available in iOS 11.2 Beta

Apple Pay Cash is now available for beta testers on the iOS 11.2 and watchOS 4.2.

According to Mac Rumors, the feature became available on Tuesday in the United States for those who have the iOS 11.2 and watchOS 4.2 beta. Apple Pay Cash was previously only available to Apple employees. While the company initially planned to have the feature roll out with the iOS 11.1, it became clear that it was not yet ready at the time.

For those who are unaware, Apple Pay Cash is a feature that can be found on the iMessage app. It allows users to transfer or receive cash from another user instantly. The feature is linked to the user's debit or credit card and Apple Pay Cash card in Wallet.

Sending money will need the user's debit or credit card while receiving money will use the Apple Pay Cash card. The Apple Pay Cash card in Wallet can then be used to pay for transactions, or users can have its contents sent to a bank account. Apple users should be aware of the 3 percent fee, though, when sending money through their linked credit card.

Right now, only one-on-one messages support the feature, which means users will be unable to use Apple Pay Cash in group messages. The feature is available to beta testers on iPhone 6 models and above, as well as Apple Watches with the latest iOS update.

A 9to5Mac demo of the new Apple Pay Cash on the iOS 11.2 shows the feature being set up and used. The setup process is quite brief and easy, with users not having to worry about having to do it each time they need to utilize the feature. After verifying the user's identity, Apple Pay Cash is ready to go. The feature appears at the bottom of the iMessage app in black. After tapping on it, users can then change the amount and choose to either request or send payment.
