Apple to Honor Steve Jobs With Celebration Oct. 19
Apple has plans to host an employee-only celebration of Steve Jobs' life Oct. 19 in the outdoor amphitheater of the Infinite Loop campus in Cupertino, Calif.
9to5Mac obtained an internal email sent to Apple employees by new CEO Tim Cook.
"Like many of you, I have experienced the saddest days of my lifetime and shed many tears during the past week. But I’ve found some comfort in the extraordinary number of tributes and condolences from people all over the world who were touched by Steve and his genius. And I’ve found comfort in both telling and listening to stories about Steve," Cook said in the email.

The email also details that arrangements will be made for Apple employees located outside of Cupertino to attend and that more information will be available for employees on AppleWeb as the event approaches.
Jobs passed away Oct. 5 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Jobs resigned from his position as CEO Aug. 24 after several leaves of absence due to his heath. He remained a member of Apple's board of directors until his death.
"Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve," Apple said in an official statement.
"His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts."
Jobs died just one day after Apple's "Let's Talk iPhone" media event Oct. 4, during which its latest smartphone, the iPhone 4S was unveiled.
A small private funeral was held for Jobs Friday in Palo Alto, Calif.
