Apple Watch Requires Daily Charging, Apple CEO Tim Cook Admits

The Apple Watch is still months away from release and there's already the issue of battery life plaguing it. Apple CEO Tim Cook had admitted that the company's first smartwatch would likely be needing charging daily, much like how the mechanical watches of old needed winding daily.

People anticipating the Cupertino smartwatch had expected the battery life to last at least a day but that would not be probably possible.

"We think people are going to use it so much you will end up charging it daily," said Cook during a live conference.

Although Cook had attempted to put a positive tone to the disappointing news regarding the Apple Watch's poor battery life, it only looks like Apple users will have to constantly charge another device aside from their iPhones or iPads.

On the positive side, it isn't only Apple experiencing poor battery lives on their devices. Most other wrist wearables face the ever-present issue of one-day battery lives. Most smartphones face this problems and while most users have gotten over the fact that they need to charge their phones everyday, having another one to charge alongside the smartphone would probably not sit well with consumers.

In the meantime, it looks like Microsoft has beaten Apple in the smartwatch race as the company has already launched its own wrist device in the market. The watch dubbed, the "Microsoft Band" has been rumored for months, even before the Motorola Moto 360 but the company had announced the watch Wednesday earlier this week and is now available for purchase.
