Apple Watch Saves Man From Fatal Heart Attack

A man was reportedly saved by his Apple Watch after being notified of his heart rate.

According to CBC News, a man named Dennis Anselmo claims that his Apple Watch warned him of his doubled heart rate just before he had a heart attack.

The 63-year-old contractor explained that while he was building a fence in Edmonton, he started to feel unwell. This led him to check his Apple Watch's heart rate monitor, which showed that his heart was at more than 200 beats per minute.

After seeing his doubled rate, he called 911, who brought him to the Royal Alexandra Hospital. The cardiac team present revealed that there was an artery in his heart that was already 70% blocked. According to The Sun, Anselmo shared that if he had simply gone to bed, he would have had a more serious attack later that night.

He said, "Everything happened really fast. They said it was very fortunate that I got in there when I did. I feel very fortunate that I was wearing the watch and that it went as well as it did."

The incident took place just two weeks after Anselmo purchased the Apple Watch. He stated that his wife was initially hesitant about getting the expensive device. However, the most recent incident changed her feelings.

Anselmo explained, "My wife didn't want me to spend that kind of money. This wasn't a cheap purchase. It saved my life so on that particular purchase, she's glad I bought it. I've been telling her that I'm looking for a Corvette with life-saving features."

Since then, it has been the only watch that Anselmo wears. In addition, he also left a review on Apple's website about his story. Though he didn't immediately receive a reply, his post grabbed the attention of a sales person in the West Edmonton Mall when he was looking for a replacement strap for his Apple Watch. After that, his story has been spread all over the world.
