'Bates Motel' Season 4 News, Update: Show Casts Sheriff Romero's Ex-Flame
Avid followers of the hit psychological drama TV series from A&E Network, "Bates Motel," are hankering for more updates on what the new season of the show brings next year, the latest of which includes a report that points out to the casting for one of the character's former flames.
According to the casting report from Deadline.com, the "Psycho" prequel series has cast actress Jaime Ray Newman for a recurring role in the brand new Season 4. As further stated, Newman will play the role of Rebecca Hamilton. The latter appears to be an old girlfriend of Sheriff Alex Romero (Nestor Carbonell) and she still seems to be harboring some feelings for him.
Newman recently appeared in small screen projects like the newly-cancelled ABC series "Wicked City." Aside from the aforementioned show, the 37-year-old has regular parts on shows like "Mind Games" and "Red Widow." In "Bosch," "Grimm," and "Drop Dead Diva," she has appeared in a recurring manner.

The "Altered Minds" star won't be the only new face fans will get to see in the new installment of the series come 2016. It has been reported this month that the show is adding actor Damon Gupton, also for a recurring role.
In a separate report from Deadline, it was revealed that the "Empire" actor will play Dr. Gregg Edwards. He is a resident doctor at Pineview Mental Institution. The site further described the newcomer as a medical professional who "walks a fine line between professional curiosity and personal investment in his patient's lives."
The new male character is also slated to have a romantic link with Vera Farmiga's Norma Bates.
Michael Ausiello of TVLine tipped that Norman's (Freddie Highmore) mother is getting a new love interest in the person of Dr. Edwards. He was further described to be in his forties.
