Batman 2016 Film Release Date, Trailer and Spoilers: New Animated Movie Reunites Original Actors from Hit '60s Series
A new animated version of Batman would soon hit the small screens with actors from the hit 1960s show reprising their roles through their voices.

The new animated film, to be called Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, would follow the story arc for Batman live action television show that debuted back in 1966.

Interestingly, the TV show spawned a feature film of its own after airing its first season.
As the '60s show celebrates its 50th anniversary, the original actors were asked to return for the new iteration, voicing the characters they originally portrayed.
Adam West (who also worked on The Fairly Odd Parents and Family Guy) would voice the titular role of the Dark Knight. Burt Ward, who also lent his voice to characters in Futurama, Spongebob Squarepants, and The Simpsons, would be portraying the hero's sidekick Robin. Catwoman would then be voiced by Broadway actress Julie Newman.
Aside from the reunion of the original cast, the new trailer released through Entertainment Weekly teased the film's villains, namely the Joker, the Riddler, Penguin, and Catwoman.The voicing cast for the villains (except for Catwoman) still remains undisclosed.

The one-minute and twenty-second trailer shows Batman and Robin being held hostage by an unseen villain. Both are tied in a larger than life food tray. As the two are about to get roasted in the oven, the Dark Knight manages to break free and sets on to free his sidekick, Robin.
Batman then gives advice to his protege and the two sprint out of the scene. All the action happens in the trailer as the two heroes exchange banter about the new show--effectively breaking the fourth wall. The seemingly self-aware characters gleefully drop details about casting and villains during the course of the trailer.
The trailer ends with the iconic Neal Hefti Batman Theme song, while the very nostalgic logo was flashed on a bright pink background, staying true to the original show's aesthetics.

The golden anniversary commemoration of the 60s show is a collaboration between Warner Brothers Animation and DC Entertainment. It will be produced by Sam Register, who was also behind the animated shows Teen Titans Go, Ben 10, and The Looney Tunes Show, among many others.
It is set to be released digitally on October 11, 2016, and on home video on November 1 of the same year.
