'Batman: Arkham Knight' Release Date Leaked for October 2014

The 'Batman: Arkham Knight" release date was leaked in a Game Stop ad earlier this week as the game will officially launch for Xbox One and PS4 on Oct. 14 of this year.

Rocksteady games and Warner Bros. studios released the official trailer for "Batman: Arkham Knight" yesterday which revealed that the game would be available before the end of this year without giving an exact date. Game Stop already has this pre-order ad made up that informs those reserving the title that they will be able to play as Harley Quinn and will gain four exclusive challenge maps.

An October release date would follow in the footsteps of "Batman: Arkham Origins" which launched in October 2013 and "Arkham City" which launched in Oct. 2011.

The new game will feature a slew of villains from Batman's rogue gallery including Scarecrow, Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn. It will also feature a uniquely designed version of the Batmobile, which will be drivable for the first time in the series and will be used for exploration around Gotham City.

Rocksteady has been long-rumored to have been working on the next-gen Batman game for the Xbox One and PS4. WB Montreal took over for 2013's "Batman: Arkham Origins" so that Rocksteady could focus all of its efforts into the game for the new systems.

"Batman: Arkham Origins" was released in the fall of last year and functions as a prequel to 2009's "Arkham Asylum" and 2011's "Arkham City." It takes place chronologically before them and telling the story of one of the hero's first years as a crime fighter in Gotham City. "Arkham Knight" will take place after "Arkham City."

The gameplay has remained the same throughout the three games along with the list of villains that includes Bane, the Joker, Harley Quinn and Deadshot.
