'Batman v Superman' News: Michael Shannon to Return with Flippers for Hands?
Michael Shannon, who played General Zod in "Man of Steel", is set to return for "Batman v Superman" sporting flippers in the place of hands.
With "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" scheduled to be released by the first quarter of 2016, actor Michael Shannon, whose character Henry Cavill decimated in 2013's "Man of Steel," will be reprising his role as antagonist, General Dru-Zod, but wearing a new costume with flippers.
Shannon, who, it is reported, won't be returning as a corpse as portrayed in an earlier trailer, will be featured as alive and well in the upcoming film, suggesting General Zod may be immortal.

Audiences may remember Shannon's character being killed off in "Man of Steel, when Superman (Henry Cavill) is forced to destroy him after he threatens the lives of some civilians. The act weighed heavily on Superman's soul, having destroyed the last remaining survivor from his planet.
Apparently Superman's angst isn't well-founded because Zod has survived, and comes back with a host of physical changes which include flippers in the place of hands.
Shannon was interviewed by Vulture recently and admitted to his character sporting wax flippers on his fingers, courtesy of a new costume.
Speculations surrounding the newly-resurrected Zod point towards his character's metamorphosis into Doomsday. In the comics version, Doomsday is a Superman nemesis who is the result of a botched Kryptonian genetic engineering experiment gone wrong. A mindless and rampaging creature, he eventually kills the Man of Steel in the comic storyline, "The Death of Superman."
While the comics version of the character is a hulking grey creature with massive spikes on his back and appendages, the comics' Doomsday does not come with flipper hands, and was originally a human Metropolis paramedic named Davis Bloome whom General Zod transforms into a Kryptonian monster.
Whether DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures intend to manipulate Doomsday's comics storyline to facilitate the return of General Zod in the movie remains to be seen when "Batman v Superman" premieres in US theaters on March 25, 2016.
