'Batman v Superman' News, Spoilers: Director Names the 2 Villains Who Were Almost in the Film
"Batman v Superman" director Zack Snyder has revealed which of the Caped Crusader's most popular adversaries almost made it into the film.
Ahead of the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" premiere in New York City's Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, March 20, Snyder told Collider that he had considered including The Joker and The Riddler in the film.
Both villains have already appeared in "Batman" feature films. "The Joker" is played by Jared Leto in the upcoming "Suicide Squad" and the late Heath Ledger took on the role in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" (2008). Jack Nicholson also played the character in "Batman" (1989). Meanwhile, The Riddler was played by Jim Carrey in "Batman Forever" (1995).

According to Snyder, he and screenwriter Chris Terrio discussed the possibility of having these two Batman villains in "Dawn of Justice." "But I didn't want to get my eye too far off the ball because I needed to spend the time, frankly, with Batman and Superman to understand the conflict," Snyder explained.
The highly anticipated film, which brings iconic DC characters Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) together on the big screen for the first time in DC history, debuted to a massive crowd in New York.
The cast and filmmakers spoke to USA TODAY from the red carpet and revealed that though "Batman v Superman" is expected to be one of the year's biggest films, what comes after will be much bigger.
According to Snyder, Batman and Superman taking each other on in the big screen is only the beginning. In the next several years, a whole slate of DC superheroes will be teaming up and fighting the bad guys together.
"To think that we could make a movie that is bigger than the movie we just made!" Snyder said, referring to "Justice League Part One" (2017), which he is also directing. "I know what happens and it's crazy."
"There's a thousand and one rich stories in there and I'm looking forward to interacting with Aquaman especially," Cavill chimed in.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" hits theaters Friday, March 25.
