"Battlefield 5' Release Date News: Still Uncertain, Different Game's New Trailer Revealed
The release date of the first-person shooter video game "Battlefield 5" is still unknown. According to Latin Post, developer EA DICE is still not ready to reveal more details about the successor of their "Battlefield: Hardline." Although the company had said that there would be a big announcement this week, it turns out that their big reveal was about another game instead.
DICE previously announced that they would be revealing something big for the week. Senior video and media director/editor Randy Evans also joined in the hype and tweeted that they are dropping a big trailer. Several fans quickly assumed that it was going to be about "Battlefield 5" since the game is expected to come out sometime this year.
However, what was revealed was not the trailer for the much-anticipated game. DICE released instead a trailer for the follow-up of their other popular title, "Mirror's Edge Catalyst." While "MEC" fans were delighted to see an update of the game after the first game released in 2008, many were also disappointed that it wasn't about the fifth installment of the "Battlefield" series. Several of the fans vented out their frustration over social media with some saying that they had really believed it would be a trailer for "Battlefield 5."

And though many were clamoring for it, DICE still kept mum about the game's details. It's already been a year since the last title in the series; "Battlefield: Hardline" will be turning one this coming March and DICE will release one last DLC before the game is over and done. This also led many to think that the next title will be coming very soon.
Ecumenical News reported that it was in July last year that Electronic Arts chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen announced that "Battlefield 5" will be coming this year. This was confirmed further after DICE development director Dan Vaderlind said that he will be moving on to the next "Battlefield" installment once "Star Wars: Battlefront" hit store shelves.
