Beyonce Confirms Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show Performance (VIDEO)

Beyonce confirmed Tuesday that she will indeed be performing at the the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show on Feb. 3, 2013 in New Orleans.

The Grammy award winning singer posted a glamorous football themed headshot on her Facebook page Tuesday night alongside the headline "Countdown To Touchdown." Her cheeks bearing face paint with the date Feb. 3, 2013 marked on each cheek.

The "Countdown" singer will join the likes of other Hollywood A-listers including Janet Jackson, Prince, U2 and the Black Eyed Peas, all of which have performed at the Super Bowl in previous years. Some critics are even anticipating that the singer could outperform Madonna, who performed with guests LMFAO, CeeLo Green and rappers M.I.A and Nicki Minaj in February 2012.

Fans flocked to social networking site Twitter to weigh in on the news following Beyonce's subtle Facebook confirmation.

"Beyonce's a good pick for this season's #superbowl halftime show. Prefer someone like The Who/Springsteen but she's better than Madonna #NFL," Edward Connolly tweeted.

"I know it's super early, but I'm already excited about Beyoncé performing at the Superbowl!!!!" Brandi King tweeted.

"Beyonce at the Superbowl halftime show! Expecting big things! HUGE!" Bryony Shallcross tweeted.

Beyonce has kept her public performances to a minimum since giving birth to her and husband Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter's first child, Blue Ivy, in January.

She stunned fans in May when she took to the stage just four months after Blue Ivy's birth to perform in four sold out shows at The Revel in Atlantic City, N.J.

"It is exciting. I'm feeling a little nervous. I'm enjoying being a mother so it's like going back to my old job and it's a little strange but it's important that you don't lose yourself … that you have your own passions and I'm back to work. I'm back to business," Beyonce revealed in a candid video.

"What I am trying to say with this show is 'Yes, I had a baby' and it just made me even more grounded and more like you," she added.
