Beyonce Explains Why She Decided to Shed Mystique in Documentary
Beyonce Knowles has not been the most forthcoming celebrity when it comes to revealing details about her personal life, but the singer recently spoke about why she decided to shed some of her mystique in an upcoming documentary after 16 years.
Knowles, 31-year-old singer, is preparing for the world premiere of her HBO Documentary, "Life is But a Dream," on Saturday. After close to two decades being in the spotlight, Knowles spoke to The Associated Press at the film's New York premiere about her reasoning for creating the film.
"I felt that after 16 years of being a public singer, people didn't know who I was," Knowles told AP. "I will always keep certain things to myself because it's only natural."

After overcoming public scrutiny and a miscarriage, the singer told AP that creating the movie became a therapeutic experience.
"I really grew so much," Knowles told AP. "This movie has really been my therapy. I've healed from so many wounds and I've been able to understand why some of the things I've been through, why I went through, so feel really proud, and hopefully I can inspire other people."
Knowles told the publication that she hopes others will be inspired by her autobiographical film, including her one-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter.
"I hope that she will see all of the beautiful times (and) all the tough times that led up to her being here," Knowles told AP. "I'm hoping that ... it can comfort her and inspire her in her life when she needs it."
According to USA Today, Knowles will open up about motherhood in the film stating, "I respect mothers and women so much and to be able to experience bringing a child into this world, if you're lucky and fortunate enough to experience that, I would never, ever take that for granted,"
Beyonce's HBO documentary, "Life Is But a Dream," will give fans an opportunity to hear the singer's thoughts about being married to rapper Jay-Z, surrogacy rumors and undergoing a miscarriage. The film will premiere Saturday Feb 16 at 9 p.m. ET.
