Black Friday 2011: Walmart to Give Select Shoppers Sneak Peek at Black Friday Ad?
"Beginning today, shoppers Can Sign Up at Walmart.com and Facebook For an Exclusive Preview of Black Friday Specials," read the headline in a press release Walmart released Wednesday, suggesting that select shoppers could get a sneak peek at the retailer's holiday sales list.
A preview of its Black Friday deals is a first for Walmart, as the retailer usually leaves anxious shoppers to speculate on what hot deals they will be able to snag on one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
"Walmart will be the Black Friday destination for the best prices on the hottest gifts, including brand name electronics and toys," said Duncan Mac Naughton, chief merchandising officer, Walmart U.S., in the press release. "We know shoppers are watching every penny this season, so we’re sharing our Black Friday specials early this year so they can plan ahead and deliver a wonderful Christmas for their families."
That sneak peek was expected to be shared sometime "later today," according to the press release.
"Starting later today, customers who sign up at Walmart.com or Facebook.com/Walmart will be the first to receive an early preview of its specials on the widest assortment of top electronics, toys, apparel and more. The retailer will reveal the specials soon," the press release revealed.
Walmart also revealed in the press release that Saturday, Nov. 5, marks its "Super Saturday" event starting at 11 a.m. at stores nationwide, in which shoppers will have access to "early savings on hot electronics and toys."
"Christmas is in full swing at Walmart, and we’re excited to offer incredible early savings on great gifts as well as fun activities for the whole family," said Naughton. "Our everyday low prices, along with these special savings and Christmas programs like layaway and our Christmas Price Guarantee, will help our customers create a wonderful Christmas this year."
