In related news, McGowan recently shared with IGN.com in an interview how he sees the relationship is between Vane and Blackbeard.

For the actor, Teach is "definitely as close to a father as Vane has ever had." This is due to the fact that Vane is a kind of person who didn't grow up in a traditional family where he had someone to look up to. For him, Blackbeard serves as a male influence as he makes his decisions in his life. However, it won't be a smooth-sailing relationship for the two.

"…how does he feel about it? He's conflicted," McGowan told the media outlet, further explaining that it feels like a father blatantly telling his son that what he learned in school is nothing but rubbish and that the old ways matter the most.

In fact, this will be the bigger issue that Vane will face for the rest of the current season.

"That's really the journey for Vane in Season 3. 'Now that I've done that and bought into something bigger than myself, is that the right choice? Is that really what I want to do?'" he said to IGN.

McGowan also plays a significant role as Prince Roan in The CW's post-apocalyptic drama TV series "The 100."

For the meantime, "Black Sails" Season 3 Episode 5 premieres this Saturday, Feb. 20, at 9/10 c on Starz.
