'Boardwalk Empire' Season 4 Spoilers: Killed Off Character Speaks Out About Nucky's Fate
The popular HBO prohibition era drama 'Boardwalk Empire" shocked fans this past Sunday night when they killed off a beloved character. If you have not yet watched last night's episode, be warned, the article contains huge spoilers.
In a dramatic and heart wrenching series of events, the character Eddie Kessler, played by actor Anthony Laciura, took his own life by jumping through a window. In an interview with TV Guide, Laciura discusses being killed off the show.
Lacirua talked about the moment he found out he would no longer be on "Boardwalk Empire."

"After we started filming Episode 4, it was explained to me that Eddie wasn't going to make it. It was on a Wednesday, and it was 11:17. [Laughs]. ... And before the phone call, I had a suspicion. When Terry did call, I said, 'I don't want you to feel bad, Terry because I don't. I saw what was happening.' It's very difficult for the producer to do that. I can't imagine anyone going into any series [without thinking] that at some point, you're not going to be in the series any longer. If you can make it to the end, that's terrific. But man, what a run. I've had such a great run," the actor said.
Laciura talked about some of the reasons that his character was driven to kill himself.
"His wife has died, and he is somewhat estranged from his sons. They have wonderful positions. He doesn't want to infringe on their big positions, because he knows he does not have a big position. But he has to be told by Knox that he is a grandfather. They're beating up an old man. Can you be more evil than that? But that's not as bad as when he tells him about the kids. That's when everything breaks down," he told TV Guide.
And Laciura discussed what Eddie's death means for the show moving forward. He particularly focused on what Eddie's death will mean for main character Nucky.
"What is going to happen to Nucky without Eddie? Who's he going to yell at? Who's going to take care of him? He's got two bodyguards, but they couldn't do what Eddie did. Nobody could do what Eddie did," Laciura said.
