Book Review: Thank You God

Now here's a book where childen, even adults, can learn a thing or two on having gratitude for everything God has given them. The children's book, Thank You God, was written by author Holly Bea, who continues the good tradition of writing Christian children's books. Her previous works have included, Bless Your Heart (2001), My Spiritual Alphabet Book (2000), Good Night, God (2000), and Where Does God Live? (1997). Illustrations from Thank You God also come from Kim Howard who has partnered up with Bea to illustrate colorful and eye-popping pictures for every of the above mentioned books.

Life can get you down sometimes and it doesn't always go your way. But it's touching to see that one young girl learns to do what many adults fail throughout their entire lifetime: give thanks to God regardless of circumstance. When the weather turns gloomy, the little girl still is able to thank God. The book has a prevailing lesson throughout the book that if you thank and praise God even though you feel blue, things can begin to light up. The book was written in a poetic style yet, easy enough for the target audience, children ages 4-8, to understand while still addressing the issue of gratitude with maturity. It may seem a little pricey for a children's book but remember that it is a hardcover and has over 31 pages of rich color. The illustrations by Howard are adorable, not missing a single aesthetic color in the rainbow.

It is never too early to start learning about our creator, God. This book takes a fun yet big step to begin the path of faith. This book is highly recommended!
