Brad Pitt 'Chokes Up' While Helping Suicidal Actor

Brad Pitt walked into a theater to promote his “Moneyball” movie in California recently, and ended up walking out saving a life.

During a special screening of the film at the Cary Grant Theatre in Culver City, Calif. Pitt encountered a troubled fan during a Q&A session with hundreds of people. An attendee told Us Weekly that the man openly admitted that he had been battling with suicidal thoughts.

Pitt and co-star Jonah Hill listened to struggling actor’s story before Angelina Jolie’s love interest decided to share some words of wisdom.

“Look, man, life is up and down, it's a vicious cycle, but you have to go through it and deal with that,'" the source told Us Weekly. “You can be down, but then you come back up again, and every failure can lead to success.”

A person who attended the event told the publication that the suicidal man gained a “renewed sense of hope,” after listening to Pitt. The A-list actor was reportedly “choked up” after revealing his own battles to the crowd.

"It was a really awkward moment," the source said. "Brad handled the situation really well in front of several hundred people -- it was a difficult moment that shocked everyone."

Another observer told the publication, "It was a touching moment. As he left the theatre he even stopped to talk with the guy to offer him some more words of encouragement, because he was obviously fragile."

Although Pitt took on the role of a real-life therapist for a few moments, he played the Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane, in the film that debuted in September. Pitt’s character used data from a computer to recruit players – an unorthodox concept.

There is Oscar Buzz swirling around the actor’s performance in “Moneyball,” which he already acquired a New York Film Critics Circle award for best actor.
