Bubba Watson Glorifies Jesus Christ After First Masters Win on Easter

Bubba Watson, 33-year-old winner of the 2012 Masters Tournament on Easter Sunday, gave God the glory for his blessing after gaining the victory over accomplished golfers Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

"I'd like to first thank Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior," Watson said following his tournament win.

The golfer broke down in tears after his win, including in the speech about his wife and one-month old baby who they adopted two weeks ago. Watson, a Florida native, admitted that he did not imagine accomplishing the feat and called doing so a blessing.

"I never got this far in my dreams, so it's not a dream come true," he said. "It's a blessing. To go home to my new son will be a lot of fun."

Highly touted golfers like Woods and McIlroy tied for 40th place in the tournament, each finishing at five over par. Phil Mickelson, another golfer who many expected to do well, battled for the win in the final round before a triple-bogey on the fourth hole resulted in him finishing two strokes behind Watson and South African contender Louis Oosthuizen.

While Oosthuzien made the fourth double eagle in Masters history, he admitted that Watson earned the win.

"Bubba just hit an unbelievable shot there on 10," Oosthuzien said after the tournament. "I didn't play badly. Bubba earned it."

Still, Watson admitted that he wouldn't have been disappointed if the tournament did not end in his favor.

"Golf isn't everything for me. If I would have lost today, it wouldn't have been the end of the world. To win is awesome, but I'll go back to real life next week," Watson said. "I still haven't changed a diaper."

While the golfer has taken to his Twitter to thank fans who have supported him during and after his big win, Watson made sure to continue glorifying God on his social media account.

"1Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus," Watson tweeted. "To God be the Glory! #Masters."
