President Barack Obama and Republican House Speaker John Boehner set aside differences on Saturday to team up for a game of golf. The two won the game at the 18th hole against Vice President Joe Biden and Ohio Governor John Kasich (R).

The outing was not only about making great shots out on the course but it also allowed for socializing outside the policy arena at a time when Obama and Boehner are in disagreement over raising the nation's $14.3 trillion debt limit and the role of the U.S. in war-torn Libya.

Earlier this week, White House spokesman Jay Carney said the golf game was "meant to be an opportunity for the speaker and the president, as well as the vice president and Ohio governor, to have a conversation, to socialize in a way that so rarely happens in Washington," according to The Associated Press.

Although no deals were struck on the green, the game is being viewed as a step toward improving the relationship between Obama and Boehner.

South Carolina Democrat Jim Clyburn told Politico, "I don't know that one golf match will do it but it's a good beginning."

Neither President Obama's scorecard nor the scorecard of his the fellow men were revealed. After the game, the four watched live coverage of the U.S. Open.
