'Captain America: Civil War' News, Spoilers: The Wasp Was Almost in 'Civil War'; Film Getting Positive Early Reviews
The Wasp/Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) was considered for the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War," the film's writers and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently announced.
During a press event for the hotly anticipated superhero brawler, Feige and "Civil War" screenwriters Christopher Markus and Marcus McFeely told the audience that they had almost included The Wasp in the long list of Marvel superheroes appearing in the film. They also explained why they ultimately decided to hold off on casting the superheroine in the already packed Marvel spectacle.
"There were drafts where Wasp participated in the splash panel fight — the airport battle," Feige told the crowd. "And the truth is, it took away the fun of seeing her suit up for the first time — seeing her on that road to being a hero. We experienced that with Ant-Man in his own movie."

Markus confirmed that there was a period where they were considering bringing Wasp into the film but, as he told Collider, they ultimately scrapped that draft as the Wasp basically had the same skill set as Ant-Man.
"When you see the movie, you see that Scott is his own comic relief so it would change that a little bit," McFeely added.
Meanwhile, critics are already weighing in on "Captain America: Civil War" and many early reviews from those who have already seen the film contain much praise. While there are still a few weeks to go before it drops, fans and critics alike have already taken to social media to drop their thoughts on "Civil War."
"I'm pretty sure 'Captain America: Civil War' is my favorite Marvel movie," Uproxx writer Mike Ryan recently tweeted.
According to Collider editor-in-chief Steven Weintraub, "Civil War" is a "home-run" that will "make all the money." Weintraub also said that he loved Spider-Man in the film and called Chadwick Boseman's portrayal of T'Challa/Black Panther "fantastic."
"Captain America: Civil War" arrives in theaters May 6.
