'Captain Marvel' Spoilers and Cast Updates: Brie Larson Preps Up for Her New Superhero Role
Looks like the newest member of the increasingly-growing Marvel marquee is beefing up--and stepping up to the game.
Brie Larson, who was recently casted as Marvel superheroine Captain Marvel, whipped up fans into excitement as she offered first peek at how she is prepping up for the role.
The Oscar award-winning star recently posted a photo on Twitter showing that she's reading up on her character in her Captain Marvel costume, with the caption, "LARSON INDUSTRIES R&D DEPARTMENT."

The comic book she's reading is "Captain Marvel Vol.1: Higher, Further, Faster, More," which was released by Marvel in 2014.
This was not the first time Larson expressed excitement over her role on the silver screen. In fact, ever since Larson was casted as the superheroine, Larson tweeted a photo of herself with a Marvel studios baseball cap, and capped it off with a simple, "Call me Captain Marvel."
Since then, she has been regularly tweeting photos of fan art of herself as the superheroine on her social media accounts.
And she has plenty of reasons to be excited about the film. Being casted as Carol Danvers is a huge deal for her and for the studio, as it will be the franchise's first real female-fronted movie. Before this, fan casting choices were older actresses with more action experience, such as Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow), or even MMA judoka and Entourage star Ronda Rousey.
While Larson does not have any previous film action experience, no doubt that Marvel, whose primary link to its global audiences is the emotional arc of its characters, has invested in the "Room" Star for her dramatic acting chops--which makes superheroes all the more compelling.
While Larson is quite fresh into the field, other Marvel co-stars have already expressed their excitement for the new member of their stellar cast.
Two months ago, Chris Evans, who plays Avenger Captain America, announced that he completely supports Larson, saying that he "loves" her and thinks she's "phenomenal."
The two stars had previously worked together in the 2009 film "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," where they both played evil exes.
So far, information about the new Marvel movie is scarce, but it has been reported that Meg LeFauve of "Inside Out" and Nicole Perlman of the "Guardians of the Galaxy" will do the screenplay, while Kevin Paige will serve as producer. No word out for who will direct the film yet.
"Captain Marvel" will hit theaters on March 8, 2019.
