Casey Anthony Latest News: Judge Rejects 'Zanny the Nanny's' Motion

A judge rejected a request Thursday to delay Zenaida Gonzalez's deposition in her case against Casey Anthony.

According to a Central Florida News report, Judge Lisa Munyon denied the motion that would have allowed Gonzalez's lawyers to question Anthony without her taking the Fifth Amendment before Gonzalez gives her own deposition.

Last week, Anthony took the Fifth Amendment roughly 60 times in the defamation trial.

"Casey Anthony avoided questioning for an extraordinary time by raising the Fifth Amendment as a shield," said attorneys for Gonzalez in the motion. "Now that the criminal trial is over, Casey Anthony is still stonewalling."

Gonzalez's attorneys, Keith Mitnik and John Morgan, previously said it is unfair Anthony will not answer questions.

"Casey Anthony should not gain an advantage by refusing to answer questions...In other words, she should not be able to delay answering questions posed to her until after she hears what Zenaida Gonzalez has to say,” contended Gonzalez’s lawyers.

Anthony's lawyers said the motion was an attempt to protect Gonzalez from facing questions regarding how much she profited from the case.

The rejection of the motion allows Anthony to hear Gonzalez speak before she gives her own statement.

In July, Anthony was found not guilty in the murder of her 2-year old daughter Caylee. The case garnered national attention.

Caylee went missing in July 2008. Her remains were found five months later near her east Orange County home. Anthony did not report Caylee missing for 31 days.

Anthony claimed "Zanny Gonzalez," also known as "Zanny the Nanny" kidnapped her daughter Caylee. Anthony upheld the claim for three years until her attorney said the nanny never existed.

In the following days after Anthony reported Caylee missing, she gave false statements to law enforcement and it was discovered she partied in the days following her daughter’s disappearance.

Last week, Anthony met with her probation officer for her monthly meeting. The report revealed Anthony has yet to find a job and has no income.
