Casey Anthony Will Not Pay Damages to 'Sad High-School Dropout,' Says Lawyer

Casey Anthony is facing problems after Zenaida Gonzalez, a woman she once accused of kidnapping her daughter, threatened to sue for defamation; however, Anthony’s lawyers are now claiming the woman does not have a reputation to uphold and the suit will not be successful.

The case of the Caylee Anthony gripped the entire nation’s attention for nearly three years, and it sparked public outrage when the mother was found not guilty of having murdered her daughter. Under much media scrutiny, Anthony was allowed to walk free soon after the trial was over in July.

Gonzalez was pulled into the trial when Anthony alleged in 2008 that the woman, working as a nanny, took her daughter. Charles Greene was one of Anthony’s lawyers who later admitted that this claim was a lie, and that the toddler drowned in a swimming pool by accident, according to The Examiner.

Gonzalez insisted that Anthony’s claims “ruined her life” by putting her in the center of public attention in a negative way, and she wants the mother to pay for the damages and hardships she has suffered. Greene, however, told CF News 13 that such a lawsuit would not be successful, because Gonzalez lived a troubled life and there is nothing significant that she lost due to the trial.

“What she's done in the past is live off the government dole, never had a real job, never even had a bank account, and bounced from place to place person to person. Sad situation to sad situation,” said the lawyer, describing Gonzalez’s life.

To back his claims, Greene focused on Gonzalez dropping out of high school, and that she had her first of six children in middle school. He reinstated his belief that the judge would not award her any damages, assessing that she alone is responsible for her bad standing in life.
