CeCe Winans Celebrates 'CeCe Winans Day' as Solo Album Debuts at No. 1
Riding high on the success of her first album in nine years, gospel music singer CeCe Winans is being honored with a day of her very own in Valdosta, Georgia.
Winans announced the news to her more than 92,000 fans on social media, thanking Valdosta Councilwoman Vivian Cody, among others, for honoring her with a key to the city and naming Feb. 23 "CeCe Winans Day."
"Thank you Shalonda Harris for inviting me to the city of Valdosta last night. Thank you City Councilwoman Vivian Cody and May Gail for the key to the city, the city proclamation and for recognizing Feb. 23 as 'CeCe Winans Day' in Valdosta, Georgia," the singer wrote on Instagram. "I am so honored by you!"

Winans received the honor after attending the "Women Waging War Conference 2017" at Mathis Auditorium in Valdosta.
In an interview with The Christian Post earlier this month, the singer, whose career spans over 30 years, said she and other industry veterans like Pastor Shirley Caesar are experiencing a resurgence in their careers.
"The older are still going on and still experiencing new things. That's pretty awesome," she said. "So it just let's us know that new things are always in front of you. You've never done it all."
Even after a nine year hiatus, Winans' first solo album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Gospel Albums Charts. For the singer, it's exciting to present her music to a whole new audience.
"I'm excited about the new sound that this record brings to my career and the new people that it will connect to. I'm excited to see what this round will bring," the singer, who hails from Detroit, Michigan, told CP. "I think that it keeps getting better."
