Charlie Sheen Lost Spiderman Role, 'Anger Management' Sees Success
Charlie Sheen has recently admitted that he once auditioned for the role of Spiderman for a film that never materialized.
During a podcast with Jay Mohr, the 46-year-old divulged that he had pitched a Spiderman idea to the now-defunct Orion Pictures and wanted to portray the film's lead, Peter Parker.
"I had an office at Orion at the time, and I brought them 'Spider-Man,'" Sheen explained. "I said, 'Look, in a couple of years, I'll be too old to play Peter Parker,' And they said, 'Yeah, we're just thinking that cartoons are not the future, comic books are not the future.'"

Insisting his idea was a hit, Sheen continued, "I said, 'But it's Spider-Man, I'm perfect.' And they were like, 'Nah, we're gonna wait.' I had a guy in my pocket who was going to get them for me. They didn't know s---."
The actor's claims about a Spiderman movie idea would have come years before Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man," which starred Tobey Maguire. Also, Marc Webb's "The Amazing Spider-Man" recently rebooted the movie series.
Sheen's humble admission of rejection was surprisingly humble, considering his stance last year, when the actor boasted that he possessed "tiger's blood" and was "winning."
Despite his failure to launch a Spiderman movie in the past, Sheen's latest television series, "Anger Management," has seen success.
FX recently requested 90 more episodes of the comedy show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"[Showrunner] Bruce Helford has created a sitcom that works extremely well in our pre-10 p.m. programming line-up," FX Network executive vice president Chuck Safler said Wednesday.
"Charlie Sheen and the entire cast did an amazing job in the first 10 episodes, which were produced in a very tight window. I have no doubt that the producers and cast will be able to pull off the Herculean task of producing 90 episodes over the next two years."
"Anger Management" season 2 is scheduled to premiere on FX in January.
