Chelsea Clinton Says She, Sandra Fluke Were Both 'Attacked by Rush Limbaugh'

Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton has spoken publicly about her connection to Sandra Fluke and her feeling of being attacked by Rush Limbaugh.

Clinton appeared for a discussion with Fluke at the 92nd Street Y in New York. "She and I have something in common," Clinton said. "We have both been attacked by Rush Limbaugh. She was 30, I was 13."

Clinton is, of course, the daughter of former president Bill Clinton and the current Secretary of State, Hillary. She grew up in the White House during her father's term from 1993 to 2001 and was often the subject of public scrutiny.

"Socks is the White House cat," Limbaugh famously said during an episode of his TV show in 1993. "But did you know there is also a White House dog?" he asked as he held up a picture of Chelsea.

At the time, Limbaugh explained his behavior as a "technical error" and said he had shown the wrong photo. Even though Chelsea has graduated from the White House years ago and is now a successful television commentator for NBC, Limbaugh has continued to berate her.

"The Clintons have done all that they can with her," he said on his radio show. "This is 'she can't find a job.' She's at the top of the ladder; she's paid no dues, not born on third base. Born at home plate after the home run," Limbaugh added before going on to say that she only got the job due to her father's connections.

At the 92nd Street Y, Sandra Fluke, who has been called a "slut" by Limbaugh, said that she was afraid of the response people would have to his assertion.

"I was worried they would think, 'I should sit down and shut up, because if I speak out, this is what happens,'" she said.

"I want women to see this as an empowering moment," Fluke noted.
