China: Beijing's Duck Burger Could Be Tastier than McDonald's Burger

Burgers are a treat for almost everyone around the world and in Beijing, the Peking duck burger has arrived, with some suggesting that it might taste even better than McDonald's and KFC's Chinese-style burgers.

According to CNN, DaDong Duck Burger, which opened in October in Beijing, has received praise from the community, largely because of the bun sandwich packed with the China's famous Peking duck skin.

The said dish features onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, lean meat, special plum sauce, and finally, a slice of crispy and golden Peking duck skin that has been an all-time favorite in the city ever since the food joint opened.

The outlet says the mix of ingredients may sound odd to some but when one gets a bite, the desire for more digs in. As expected, people storm into DaDong every day as staff testify that they serve up to 300 dishes of the meal per day.

The meal, without any additions, costs 22 yuan or $3.40 while combos with options including hot honey pomelo tea, fries, or a glass of soda, are tagged at 31 yuan or $4.70.

The restaurant isn't like other diners that sport massive decor and other content that sometimes takes the meals out of the spotlight. DaDong is all about minimalistic themes and doesn't really need all the generous decor since it is already located in the city's busy area where customers working in offices nearby are pretty rampant.

One client, Cindy Zhan, tried the burger for lunch and she said she never expected what she experienced. "It was much tastier than I had thought. I was afraid that a duck burger would be too greasy. But it was not with the special sauce. Definitely different than conventional burgers," she said.

Han Yang, the diner's manager, also shared that the branch's chefs come from the company's upscale sister and all recipes and techniques in preparation are the same so consumers shouldn't worry about the quality of the famed burger.

While it is believed worldwide that meat buns are largely seen in Western countries, China is actually one of the Asian countries that can speak for itself in terms of love for burgers since it has other dishes such as the famous Roujiamo which has been around the country for many years.
